Topographic Maps and Photographs

Unusual to most guidebooks, all of the Hiking Idaho guidebooks include a section of the relevant 1:24,000-scale topographic map(s) for each hike. The maps (also known as 7.5-minute quadrangles) were produced by the U.S.G.S. and are the most detailed maps available. The maps allow you to visualize the topography and plan. All of the books include color photography (The Day Hiker’s Guide to The Sun Valley and Ketchum includes black-and-white photography) so you can get an idea of the scenery you will see.
